“I wasn’t 100 percent. But I told them in March I will be ready. But they say, ‘In March, we don’t have any options.’ I said, ‘OK, I have the belt. Just give someone. I will be ready.’”

“I know Dustin does not deserve the title fight, but we don’t have any option right now,” Makhachev said. “Everybody is busy. I want to fight. I want to fight three times this year. I have to call out someone, and Poirier is free now.”

Cormier actually likes the fight and is urging the UFC to make it happen.

“This is a no-lose situation for the UFC. Islam wants to fight, so I think you gotta try to make that happen as soon as possible.

“I love it. Book it. Right now. Makhachev vs Poirier. It will be a massive fight, it really will be the biggest fight that Islam Makhachev has ever had in terms of the box office.”

It’s currently ubclear what the UFC plans to do with Makhachev now that it has been revealed that he will not be on the June 22nd Saudi Arabia card.

There is a possibility that he will fight on International Fight Week on June 29th and then again later in the year in Abu Dhabi.
