Robert Whittaker has some thoughts on the potential Israel Adesanya-Dricus Du Plessis fight.
Whittaker, who lost twice to Adesanya, isn’t cofident in Drisuc Du Plessis chances against the former middlewweight champio,
For the past week, there have been rumors that Adesanya and Du Plessis are set to main event in the UFC 305 Melbourne card in Australia later this year.
With those rumors swirling, Whittaker told MMA Arcade that he could see Adesanya piecing up Du Plessis in a five round title fight.
“It’s an interesting fight,” Whittaker said. “I can see Adesanya just piecing him up for five rounds. But in saying that, Dricus is tough as nails, and he’s awkward. I can also see Dricus just getting in there and making it awkward, and, I don’t know, taking him out of his rhythm. We saw when Adesanya fought Strickland, Strickland pushing that pace and moving into his space changed the rhythm of the fight.”
Whittaker found Adesanya to some close fights in the past and even believed he has won their last fight. If Whittaker defeated Khamzat Chimaev at UFC Saudi Arabia in June, he could be in line for a title shot.
