Former UFC bantamweight champion Petr Yan is hoping on working his way back up to making another championship run.
While speaking to Gorilla Fighting, Yan said that he’s definitely interested in rematches against Sean O’Malley and Merab Dvalishvili but not interested in another match against Aljamain Sterling, who may be leaving the division.
“I told you it’s gonna be rematch season. I’m interested in Sean O’Malley, Merab Dvalishvili. I’m not interested in [Aljamain] Sterling, he’s a different weight. I’m interested in Marlon Vera.”
“Henry Cejudo is out of the question now.”
Yan also fired back at O’Malley, who said Yan would be fighting in BKFC soon.
“For Sean, the UFC is everything. It’s not everything to me. I don’t have the attitude that I overvalue it and I don’t see myself in other organizations. MMA is not everything to me.”
It’s currently unclear who Yan can fight now after beating Song Yadong at UFC 299.
The best fit for Yan at the moment seems to be either Chito Vera or Cory Sandhagen but it’s not clear if those two fighters are interested in fighting against Yan at this point of their careers.
