Joaquin Buckley Believes Vicente Luque ‘Quit’ By Pulling Guard

UFC welterweight Joaquin Buckley followed through on his promise of breaking down Vicente Luque.

Ahead of their UFC Atlantic City fight, Buckley felt that he could break Luque because he “quits’ alot in their fights.

“I write down my opponent, not just they style and what they good at, but just who they are as a person.”

“And obviously, with Vicente, there’s not much on him. .. So, I feel like for me, the only thing that takes me there with him, is just knowing that he has to depend on God to give him the victory.”

“He cannot depend on himself. He quits in a lot of his fights. I’ma just keep it a buck.”

“When he’s out there, I feel like Vicente Luque is a person that is breakable. And that’s why I said before, that’s why they tried to do him a favor by giving him three rounds, because if it was a five round fight, I’d be bad for my boy.”

On Saturday night, Buckley absolutely dominated Luque and finished him with in the second round when Luque bizarrely tried to pull guard.

During his postfight press conference, Buckley said he laughed when saw Luque pulled guard and believed he quit at the end of the fight.

“I laughed actually. I actually chuckled when he pulled guard.”

” I feel like there’s a lot of times where he ends up in a situation and he tries to fight through.

“But I felt like I could break Vicente Luque, and that’s exactly what we did. I made him quit.”
