UFC CEO Dana White wasn’t sure about bringing the outspoken Sean Strickland to Canada.
On Saturday, January 20th, Strickland will headline the UFC’s fight card in Toronto, Canada.
Ahead of the fight, White said he was unsure about bringing Strickland to Canada due to his outlandish behavior but went for it.

“First of all, we’re sitting in a matchmaking meeting, and I’m in there with the matchmakers, and they’re like ‘Yeah, we’re thinking about, you know, we’ll get the Strickland/du Plessis fight, we’re gonna take it to Canada.’ And I’m like ‘We’re gonna take Strickland to Canada? Is that a good idea? Taking Strickland to Canada?’ And then you starting thinking, ‘Well, where can you take Strickland? Where is a good place to take Strickland?'”
While Strickland hasn’t gotten into any altercations, he did go viral when he went on a transphobic rant during his media day that caused an uproar among fans.
“Here’s the thing about Bud Light,” Strickland said. “Ten years ago, to be trans was a mental f—-ng illness; and now, all of sudden, people like you have f—ing weaseled your way in the world. You are an infection. You are the definition of weakness. Everything that is wrong with the world is because of f—ing you.
“And the best thing is the world’s not buying it. The world’s not buying your f—ing b—hit you’re f—ng peddling. The world is not saying, ‘You know what? You’re right. F—ng chicks have d—s.’ The world’s not saying that. The world’s saying, ‘No, there are two genders.’ I don’t want my kids being taught about who they could f— in school. I don’t want my kids being taught about their sexual preference.”
