After the fight, Ortega spoke about everything he’s been through just to get back into the cage.

“I’ll be honest with you right here, it’s been rough. I lost one of my best friends, I lost two friends after that. I got betrayed by people that were close to me. I had 4 surgeries back to back. It’s just a lot of things in my personal life, and it looked dark.

I know a lot of people think its cheesy but when I went to church and found god, and a year ago I was a broken man. Today I’m married, I got my kids with me, God gave me my family back. Look at us, we’re doing good.”

It’s unclear where Ortega stands in the division with Volkanovski aiming to get a rematch against Ilia Topuria later this year.
