Brian Ortega Gets Emotional While Speaking About Comeback At UFC Mexico City

It took Brian Ortega over a year to return to the Octagon after a freak injury but’s back in title contention after his latest win.

On Saturday, at UFC Mexico City, Ortega defeated highly ranked Yair Rodridguez via submission at UFC Mexico.

After the fight, Ortega spoke about everything he’s been through just to get back into the cage.

“I’ll be honest with you right here, it’s been rough. I lost one of my best friends, I lost two friends after that. I got betrayed by people that were close to me. I had 4 surgeries back to back. It’s just a lot of things in my personal life, and it looked dark.

I know a lot of people think its cheesy but when I went to church and found god, and a year ago I was a broken man. Today I’m married, I got my kids with me, God gave me my family back. Look at us, we’re doing good.”

It’s unclear where Ortega stands in the division with Volkanovski aiming to get a rematch against Ilia Topuria later this year.
